Unicorn Pinot Noir 2018
The wine has a nice, not too deep, ruby color, is complex and well balanced. It is accompanied by an elegant aroma of black fruits and spices, ripe red cherries, cranberries, blackberries and a hint of cinnamon and vanilla. Aftertaste is medium to long, velvety and spicy, with hints of roasted oaks.
Unicorn Estate
Established in 2014, Unicorn Winery is situated in the Saca village of Strășeni municipality , Republic of Moldova. A micro-winery, created with the goal to deliver great wines with it’s own character and philosophy and to represent in every bottle the richness of the soil and of the local climate.
Unicorn Estate owns vineyards in 2 regions of Moldova. In the center, of country, 10 hectares of vineyards, where are grown especially white vines. and 5 hectares of vineyards in the south of Moldova, located in the region Purcari wine region, village Olanesti, on Valea Sinodrei that has an unique terroir with sandy soil rich in minerals. The “Valea Sinodrei” grape valley is well aerated by the Nistru River which slowly flows to the Black Sea. That means – the perfect soil and climate is chosen for the variety of grown grapes.
Every bottle of wine is made under control of the winemaker and founder of the Unicorn Estate, Sergiu Galusca. After studying in France and working with French winemakers, he gained more knowledge, working in the most famous wine region of the US, Napa Valley. He believes that the most important part of the wine creation is the soil and vines, and he just helps to develop that treasure.
The grape varieties used by Unicorn Estate Winery are indigenous – Rara Neagra, world classics – Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and the Georgian Rkatsiteli and Saperavi. The grape varieties are chosen with the goal to make complex wine with a good balance and structure.
